Ross Cup 2011

Stu Mayhew wins the KCPA Ross Cup Premier Award and Mick Smithson Shield with his wonderful print, 'Dreamscape'.

It was a very close result with Aperture Woolwich coming joint fifth out of 33 clubs competing, only 3 points away from the top score. The best result for AWPS in recent years.

The Ross cup is one of most prestigious print competitions in the Kent photographic calendar. So congratulations to all the photographers who's work made up our club panel and well done to Stu!

You have an opportunity to find out how this photograph was created when Stu takes the 'Levitations and Revelations' studio masterclass at the club on 15 November.

Guest speakers 25 October

Madagascar
a photographic talk
by Deborah and Duncan Armour

Shrewsbury House, Tuesday 25 October, starts at 8pm

Madagascar is remarkable for it's range of unique wildlife - 80% of its species of plants and animals are found here and nowhere else on earth. Perhaps most well known of these are the many species of lemurs.

This talk starts with an explanation of how this unusual and exotic diversity came to be, explores some of the local customs and modern day people, before heading into rainforest, spiny forest and desert in search of plants, bugs, birds and primates. Along the way, Deborah and Duncan will be happy to share tips and techniques for photography in some difficult environments.
