Guest Speaker: Richard Walton FRPS

Photographer Richard Walton FRPS, 'Just for the fun of it!'. 

On Tuesday 5 February our first guest speaker of 2013 will be Richard Walton, photographer, judge and lecturer, who will present a talk called “Just for the Fun of It”. 

From competing via his local club, gaining LRPS, winning acclaimed national competitions, followed by international competing, judging, and exhibiting Richard obtained FRPS status, and went full circle with a return to the start at Sittingbourne and Invicta. To describe him as 'experienced' is just the tip of the iceberg!  

Richard has promised we can expect a talk about his change in attitude to photography post-FRPS; a return to making pictures for himself, rather than to please judges and exhibition selectors.  “Very light hearted, and great fun to do.”  No doubt a wide range of images to enjoy with something to appeal to everyone. Definitely one not to miss!

The evening will begin promptly at 8pm, so please ensure you arrive early to get a good seat. Free to AWPS members. £3.00 for non-members, payable on the door.

The Bob 2013 - Round 3: Results

Held on 15 January, this was an open round, the top 4 images chosen by the group on the night were:

Studio & Table Top Photography evening

Our first meeting of 2013 takes place on Tuesday 8 January at 8pm at Shrewsbury House with a Studio night.  We will have table top macro opportunities in the Library with a range of mini-beasts and creepy crawlies being supplied by Cairis Hickey of the Wiggly Wild Show. Bring your macro lenses, accessories and tripod if you have them.  There will also be a model – this one is human - in the Aperture Studio so you will also need your portrait lenses and flash units too. 

"The Wiggly Wild Show is coming to AWPS! We'll put the snake in a labelled corner, there won't be any spiders but I have a tarantula skin, so do talk to me beforehand if you are worried about anything. I'll show anyone that wants to how to hold each animal, they're all okay with flashes, and we'll feed the dragon and the snake to get some action shots. You can look at my page (The wiggly wild show) for more info.  I'm sure some members have some shots of the millipede and snail from last time, but since then things have rather multiplied!.
